World Cup: South Africa defeated by 243 runs, India's eighth consecutive victory
Another World Cup match was won by India after a one-sided contest, defeating South Africa by 243 runs in the 37th match of the event.
India set South Africa a target of 327 runs to win, in pursuit of which the in-form South African team was bowled out for 83 runs.
In this match played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Indian captain won the toss and decided to bat first.
Like the previous matches, Indian captain Rohit Sharma gave the team a good start and scored 40 runs off 24 balls.
India's first wicket was 62 and the second wicket was 93 runs in 10.3 overs.
After Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill got out, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer formed a brilliant partnership to lay the foundation for a big total.
Virat Kohli completed his 49th career century by playing an unbeaten innings of 101 runs off 121 balls while Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for 77 runs.
Among the other players from India, Rohit Sharma scored 40 runs, Shibman Gul scored 23 runs, Surya Kumar Yadav scored 22 runs and Ravindra Jadeja scored 29 runs.
The home team scored 326 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Lungi Ngedi, Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, Tabriz Shamsi and Kesho Maharaj took one wicket each for South Africa.
It should be noted that both the teams have played seven matches in the World Cup so far, India is undefeated while South Africa has won 6 of their matches.
India is first and South Africa is second on the points table and both teams have qualified for the semi-finals.

In the World Cup match played in Kolkata, against South Africa, Virat Kohli equaled the record of 49 centuries in ODI matches, he scored a century in 119 balls with the help of 10 fours.

Virat Kohli scored his 49th career century against South Africa in his 289th match. He scored more than 13600 runs in 289 matches, including 49 centuries and 71 fifties.
It should be noted that before him Sachin Tendulkar of India had made a record of scoring 49 centuries in 463 matches. Sachin Tendulkar was the highest scorer in ODIs with 18426 runs, including 49 centuries, 96 fifties.
