In the Asia Cup, Pakistan got off to a winning start by easily defeating Nepal by a huge margin of 238 runs.
Chasing Pakistan's target of 343 runs, the Nepali team was bowled out for 104 runs.
In the opening match of Asia Cup 2023 at Multan Cricket Stadium, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first against Nepal.
Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman and Imamul Haq opened the innings after which the first wicket of the national team fell for 21 runs in 5.3 overs when Fakhar Zaman was caught out for 14 runs.
On the first ball of the next over, Pakistan's second wicket fell for 25 runs when Imam-ul-Haq was run out for 5 runs.
Captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Rizwan supported the team by providing a partnership of 86 runs. However, after scoring 44 runs on a total of 111, Mohammad Rizwan was run out.
Newcomer Agha Salman was the guest for 5 runs and was caught out trying to play a reverse sweep off veteran Nepali bowler Sandeep Lamichne on a total of 124.
Iftikhar Ahmed came to support Babar Azam and the two made a partnership of 214 runs off 131 balls to take the team to a big total.

On the other hand, Iftikhar Ahmed scored the first century of his career and remained unbeaten with 109 runs off 71 balls.
