1- Maintaining physical and mental health

The main objective of physical education is to maintain the physical health of the student through physical activity.

For this reason, the chair includes the practice of various sports and the performance of complementary exercises.
This allows for the development of physical balance, which is strength, speed, endurance and flexibility.

Strength is the ability of a muscle to oppose resistance. It can be isometric (if there is no displacement of an object) or isotonic (if there is a displacement).
Speed is the speed with which you respond to a stimulus. It can be of three types: reaction speed, muscle contraction speed and displacement speed.

Reactive speed is what happens when a muscle responds to an external stimulus.

Contraction velocity is the speed at which the muscle relaxes and increases as quickly as possible.

Finally, movement speed is the speed at which an individual travels a certain distance in the least amount of time.
Endurance is the ability to withstand the fatigue caused by physical activity. Over time, the feeling of fatigue decreases, thus increasing endurance.
Flexibility is a conditioned ability that involves stretching the muscles around the joints.

The more developed these abilities are, the better the individual's condition.
In addition, scientific studies have also shown that physical activity and physical health can positively affect a person's mental state.
Memory and attention are two cognitive activities that are affected by coordinated physical activity. In this way, it also increases the learning capacity of the student and improves his academic performance.

2- Encourage teamwork

Many physical education chair activities are group activities. For example, football, basketball and volleyball are two groups facing each other.

All of these encourage teamwork, as group members work as an act. Each participant plays a role and together they form a system.

3- Build discipline

The practice of any sport or any physical activity inculcates discipline in students. Physical education as a chair teaches individuals certain patterns of behavior that make their performance effective in a group.

4- Develop an attitude of respect

Apart from discipline, physical education inculcates an attitude of respect and dignity in students. This respect is found on two levels:

At the first level, sports are governed by a set of rules that players must follow. In this way, students learn to respect the rules.

At the second level, there is a referee who enforces the rules and fines those who don't follow them. Thanks to this, players learn to respect an authority figure.

5- Create an environment of healthy competition

Physical education through sports creates an atmosphere of healthy competition. The student learns the importance of doing one's best regardless of the outcome.

While winning is satisfying, losing is not wrong as long as the best effort is made.
In fact, there are no winners and losers in physical education, only individuals who play to develop their motor skills and create comedy and cooperation.

6- Developing leadership behaviors

In football, basketball, volleyball teams, among others, there are captains who guide the team and develop strategies to ensure the best performance of the group.

This situation is recreated in the chair of physical education. Thus, students are given an opportunity to develop their leadership qualities.
This will help them get to know their colleagues better, as a leader should be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the people they lead.


7- To promote the attitude of self-demand

The chair of physical education creates a conducive environment for students to develop their physical abilities.

Also, the fact that the student is in constant competition with other classmates makes him decide to be more demanding of himself. Then, the need for the instructor increases its need.


8- Provide values to students

Apart from discipline and respect, physical education imparts other values. For starters, it teaches them to cooperate, as many sports require group participation. It strengthens the bond of friendship.

Additionally, it gives students a sense of belonging, as they are part of a team. This instills in them the importance of responsibility, as each individual plays a role within the team and has to fulfill his or her responsibilities.

They learn to be supportive. Many times certain sports modes have to arrive at a certain time. In addition, they also learn that their movements are precise.

Finally, physical activity requires dedication.
This means that students learn to be determined, do their best, and do their best.
