Solar Water ATM Machine in Punjab
The prototype ATM machine, occupying two square feet of space, looks exactly like a real ATM machine. The only difference is that this machine dispenses water instead of money. Moreover, these machines are solar powered instead of electricity.
Punjab Saaf Pani Company and Innovations for Poverty Alleviation Lab will jointly install water ATM machines in urban and rural areas of Punjab.
With the help of this machine, it will not only help in preventing the wastage of clean water but also it will be possible to keep a record of the supply of clean water.
The way this machine works will be something like that the user will scan his smart card in the machine after which water can be obtained. The green and red buttons will turn the water on and off.
A flow control meter will tell how much water has left the machine while sensors will tell how much water is left.
In the first phase, this machine will be installed in Bahawalpur, Rajanpur and Faisalabad. After that, in those areas where the water is polluted. Every family receiving water will be able to get 30 liters of water every day thanks to their unique card.
Getting water from ATM through card is not a new idea. Before this water ATM machines are also being used in India.
